We at Coast To Coast Signal Engineering (CTC) perform railroad signal applications engineering and are always seeking to provide employment opportunities to dedicated, hard-working, talented individuals who desire a career that is both intellectually challenging and financially rewarding. CTC is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, with a full-service satellite office in Jacksonville, Florida.

The signal engineering services we provide our customers helps ensure the safe and expeditious movement of trains across networks of thousands of miles of railroad tracks to include the engineering of both wayside signaling and at-grade highway crossing warning devices. We have provided services to most North America’s Class 1 railroads including the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, CSX Transportation, Santa Fe Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad. Additionally, we have provided services to numerous short-line railroads and several large engineering firms.

Employment Prerequisites

Jr. CADD Operator
Hard working, dedicated individual with computer aided drafting (CADD) experience. A strong background with Windows XP and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is preferred. Must be organized, exhibit a professional attitude and be willing to learn a challenging career. Jr. CADD operators will be provided training and development opportunities for career advancement.

CADD Operator
Hard working, dedicated individual with a minimum of 18 month degree in computer aided drafting (CADD) or a student actively pursuing a CADD degree. Ideal candidate will be experienced with Bentley MicroStation, and/or have an Associate in Applied Science in Electronic Engineering, or actively pursuing an electrical engineering degree. A strong background with Windows XP and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is preferred. Candidate must be organized, exhibit a professional attitude and be willing to learn a challenging career. CADD operators will be provided training and development opportunities to become a Signal Design Engineer.

Signal Design Engineer Trainee
This entry level position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Previous electrical / electronic design experience or railroad signal experience would be a plus, though not required. Individuals seeking to qualify for this position should be motivated self starters, exhibit good organization skills, possess basic computer skills and be willing to learn railroad signal design by actively participating in the company's continuing education programs. The successful applicant must be capable of taking verbal and written instructions and be capable of applying those instructions to practical engineering and design methods. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows XP along with the ability to learn file management techniques is required.

Signal Design Engineer
Hard working, dedicated individual with an Associate in Applied Science in Electronic Engineering, or actively pursuing an e lectrical engineering degree, and a minimum of 10 years field experience in railroad signaling, or signal design experience for a Class 1 railroad or reputable signal design firm. Ideal candidates will posses a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). Qualified applicants shall have a thorough knowledge/understanding of railroad wayside signaling and highway crossing applications. Signal Design Engineers will be provided training and development opportunities to become a Signal Design Checker.

Signal Systems Software/Program Engineer
Hard working, dedicated individual with an Associate in Applied Science in Electronic Engineering, or actively pursuing an electrical engineering degree, and substantial signal systems programming experience for a Class 1 railroad or reputable signal engineering firm. Ideal candidates will posses a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). A qualified candidate will be familiar with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and railroad industry requirements and standards for software engineering. The candidate shall be able to perform functionality tests on programs to ensure compliance with the FRA and railroad standards and requirements.

Signal Design Checker
Hard working, dedicated individual with an Associate in Applied Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, or actively pursuing an electrical engineering degree, and a minimum of 10 years field experience, or signal design checking experience for a Class 1 railroad or reputable signal design firm. Ideal candidates will posses a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). A qualified candidate shall be familiar with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and railroad industry requirements and standards to ensure circuit integrity and functionality.
